KASKI: It has been a tough nut to crack for CPN (Maoist Center) to elect leadership in the local units of Kaski district.

Maoist Center that conducted conventions in all 753 local units across the country on November 27 has not been able to hold conventions in three local units out of the five in Kaski district.

The party has not been able to hold conventions in Pokhara Metropolitan City, Annapurna and Machhapuchchhre rural municipalities due to lack of consensus on the leadership.

The conventions have been concluded in Madi and Rupa rural municipalities.
The election of the leadership hit a snag after the leaders did not budge from their stance even though the party stressed on the need to elect leadership through consensus.

The efforts are underway to forge consensus on the posts of chairman and other office-bearers of the rural municipalities and municipalities, said Maoist Center District Coordinator Bakhan Singh Gurung.
