Voting underway to determine NC leadership in Sudurpaschim Province

Panels of former Minister Balayer and fomer Kailali President Mishra in the fray



KATHMANDU: Voting is underway to determine the leadership of Nepali Congress (NC) in Sudurpaschim Province on Saturday.

According to NC Election Committee, the polling set to start at 8 am was delayed by about two hours. Delegates from nine districts are casting votes at the hall of Construction Entrepreneurs Committee in Dhangadhi. Voting is underway to decide the fate of 56 positions, including eight office bearers.

The panels of former Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Bir Bahadur Balayer and former Kailali President Narayan Mishra are vying for the posts. There are 179 candidates from both the panels in the election.

Meanwhile, three members have been elected unopposed from geographical category. Pushpa Bhatta from Kailali, Tilak Raj Joshi and Nirmala Bogati from Dadeldhura have been unanimously elected.
