RPP Gen Convention: Voting kicks off with Lingden’s vote



KATHMANDU: Voting for the new leadership of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has begun in Kathmandu, four hours later than the scheduled time.

Earlier, RPP had scheduled the voting for 8 am Saturday.

Presidential candidate Rajendra Lingden has cast his vote as the first in the ongoing convention.

RPP general convention which kicked off in Kathmandu on Wednesday is holding an election to elect the new central committee of the party through an electronic voting system.

Besides chairman, four vice chairpersons, three general secretaries and 141 central committee members will be elected through the general convention.

The voting is taking place through an electronic voting machine.

A total of 100 voting machines are being used in the general convention.

Leaders Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden with panels are contesting elections for the post of party chairman.

There are 4,400 voters in the general convention of RPP.
