RPP Gen Convention: Nomination being filed today as Thapa and Lingden vie for party chair



KATHMANDU: Candidacies are being filed to elect a new leadership of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) today.

According to election committee coordinator Hari Bahadur Basnet, the deadline for the nomination has been set from 11 am to 1 pm.

The final-list of the candidates will be published today itself following a review on the complaints lodged against the candidacies. The election will be held on Saturday, informed Basnet.

There are 4,400 voters in the general convention of RPP. Leaders Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden with panels are contesting elections for the post of party chairman.

The name of Bikram Pandey, who is vying for the post of vice chairman, is in both the panels, an RPP leader has said.

Thapa’s panel includes Buddhi Man Tamang, Bikram Pandey, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Roshan Karki. They are contesting elections for the post of vice chair persons.

Similarly, Bhaskar Bhadra, Bhuwan Pathak and Kunti Kumari Shahi are vying for the post of general secretaries.

Likewise, Lingden panel includes Bikram Pandey, Dil Bikash Rajbhandari, Ram Chandra Raya and Lila Shrestha. They are contesting for the post of vice chairpersons.

Dhawal Shumsher Rana, Shyam Timilsina and Rekha Thapa are in the fray for the post of general secretaries.

Aside from chairman, four vice chairpersons, three general secretaries, 141 central committee members will be elected through electronic voting system.

It takes around 20 hours to enter the name-list of the candidates once the final-list of candidates is published, technical officials have said.
