KATHMANDU: For the first time in the history of Nepal’s Supreme Court, 11 benches have been constituted through a lottery system.
A total of 11 benches have been formed on Wednesday.
As many as 217 cases have been assigned to 11 benches.
The benches have been constituted on the basis of the lottery system for the first time as per the amended rules of the Supreme Court.
The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has, meanwhile, staged a sit-in at the Supreme Court premises today demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.
Coincidentally, the day the provision of curtailing the rights of the chief justice are put into practice, Chief Justice Rana is absent due to coronavirus.
