Six members, from workers’ quota, elected unopposed to UML Central Committee



KATHMANDU: Six members, from workers’ quota, have been elected unopposed to the Central Committee in the 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML.

General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) President Binod Shrestha, vice presidents Ramesh Badal, Kamal Gautam, Baburam Thapa, Manju Kumari Thapa Magar and Sita Lama were unanimously elected UML central members.

UML Chair Oli Oli had proposed the list of 301 central members, including him, in a closed session on Sunday night in course of the national congress.

Representative were urged to file nominations in case they were dissatisfied with the proposal by Monday morning. However, within the stipulated time period, there were no other candidates to challenge the proposal from the trade union quota.

UML Senior Vice Chairman Ishwar Pokhrel, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Deputy General Secretaries Pradip Gyawali, Prithvi Subba Gurung and Bishnu Rimal have also been unanimously elected.

Elections are being held for a total of 14 posts, including chairman.
