KATHMANDU: Despite efforts to unanimously elect the leadership , the 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML has headed for elections, eventually.
The elections are set to be held after leaders Bhim Rawal and Ghana Shyam Bhusal filed their candidacies for the post of chairman and vice chairman, respectively. Rawal and Bhusal filed their candidacies on Monday morning.
Rawal’s candidacy has been proposed by Mahadev Bajgain and seconded by Dudhkala Bista.
Chairman KP Oli had announced the names of office-bearers on Sunday night. The name-list did not have the names of Rawal and Bhusal.
Chairman Oli has also filed his candidature for the post of chairman after Rawal filed nomination, a UML leader said.
Oli’s candidacy has been proposed by leader Bishnu Poudel and seconded by Shankar Pokharel.
