KATHMANDU: Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tap Bahadur Magar, has appealed to all concerned to implement the laws and constitutional provisions relating to children’s rights.
Advocacy should be intensified for the enforcement of constitutional rights to children, he stressed.
NHRC Chairperson Magar said so while speaking at a program organized by CWIN Nepal on the occasion of World Children’s Day in the federal capital on Friday.
“Article 39 of the Constitution has ensured rights to education, health, proper care and nutrition, sports and recreation and entire development of children,” he reminded the constitutional provision stating that NHRC was studying the issues of human rights relating to women and children.
On the occasion, Member of the National Planning Commission, Saloni Singh Pradhan, viewed that a new plan was being mulled by revising 10-year strategic plan on children’s rights.
Similarly, Chief of Children Division at Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Shantiraj Prasain, informed that the Ministry was also for preparing new plan on child rights.
Senior human rights defender and founder chair of CWIN, Gauri Pradhan, argued that Nepal could not progress as the situation of children did not progress.
