KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) is conducting its convention at 753 local levels today (Saturday).
Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to inaugurate the municipal level convention at one go virtually. The time for his address to the convention is fixed at 1:00 pm.
The convention will select representatives for the party province conference, said Bishnupukar Shrestha, chief of the central election commission of the Maoist Center.
The province conference is slated for December 11 and the national conference for December 26 to 28.
Preparations for the municipal level conference have been over, said the Maoist Centre.
For the national convention, the election commission has already been formed and directives and the code of conduct were made as per the party statute said, Shrestha.
Likewise, election committees at the province level have been formed a month ago. The elected representatives from the ward level conference will elect a leadership representing 35 percent women, 20 percent youths, 15 percent Dalit people, and five percent Muslim community.
