KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress’ district conventions in 25 districts have concluded till Wednesday morning ahead of the party’s General Convention.
Secretary of the Central Election Committee Jagannath Shrestha informed Khabarhub that the results of 25 districts have been announced.
Earlier, the Congress had held district conventions in 14 Himalayan districts.
In the district which has only one federal constituency, Congress started the district convention on November 22. NC will complete the district conventions by November 26.
The NC will hold the conventions in districts having multiple constituencies from Friday.
To date, Congress has held conventions in 25 districts. There is fierce competition in the districts between the panels of President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
According to the results, Deuba’s faction is ahead in the district chairmanship.
While the Deuba camp has won in 14 districts so far, senior leader Poudel faction has won in the remaining 11.
However, Deuba and Poudel, who won the election unanimously, have also claimed the victory of their respective factions.
