KATHMANDU: Although most of the justices in the Supreme Court have started hearing all kinds of cases, including habeas corpus, from Tuesday, the cases have not been heard effectively yet.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana had assigned judges for all kinds of cases, including habeas corpus, today. Of the ten benches, nine were joint and one single.

A joint bench of Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Prakash Kumar Dhungana had 99 cases to oversee but only three cases were decided. Similarly, a joint bench of Justices Meera Khadka and Tanka Bahadur Moktan heard only one case. The joint bench of Justices Harikrishna Karki and Sushmalata Mathema heard only two cases while Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Nahakul Subedi and Justices Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Kumar Chudal heard only one case each.

Similarly, a joint bench of Justices Prakash Man Singh Raut and Bam Kumar Shrestha heard only one of the 66 cases in the list. The number was the same with bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma.

It may be noted that the justices have been refused to hear cases, demanding reforms in the apex court. It has been a month now since the disobedience began, severely affecting the justice seekers.
