Maoist Center wants the court dispute to be resolved soon: Dev Gurung



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center leader and chief whip of the parliamentary party Dev Gurung has said that his party is of the view that the dispute in the court should be resolved soon.

Receiving the memorandum submitted by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) on Monday demanding impeachment of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra, Gurung promised to draw the attention of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in this regard.

“The parties have agreed that the issue should be resolved as soon as possible,” he told the NBA officials, adding, “It has drawn our attention, the party is also of the view that there should be a speedy solution. ‘

NBA has been agitating for more than three weeks, accusing the Chief Justice of seeking power sharing and role in executive and political appointments.

Earlier on Monday, the Bar handed over a memorandum to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and UML parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nembang demanding impeachment of Chief Justice Rana.
