KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has demanded that the government should be serious about the rise in prices of petroleum products and withdraw the price-hike.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by the student organizations on Sunday, Chairman Nepal said that the government should seek alternative ways like reduction of tax and curbing the leakage.
“Increasing the price of cooking gas by Rs 125 per cylinder in 12 days is an atrocity on the people, the government has to take it seriously and make correction at the earliest,” he said, adding, “After the operation of pipeline from Raxaul, the transportation cost should have gone down, it is increasing. The government should investigate the real cause of the oil corporation’s loss.”
He promised to take the issue to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
