17, including 8 foreigners rescued from Dhaulagiri base camp



JOMSOM: Seventeen people, including nine Nepali guides and eight foreigners, were rescued by a helicopter at Dhaulagiri base camp on Sunday morning.

They were stranded there due to heavy snowfall and inclement weather.

According to the District Police Office, Mustang, all of them were rescued by a helicopter.

District Police Office Information Officer Inspector Pratap Poudel said four from Belgium, four Spanish and 17 Nepali guides were rescued from the Dhaulagiri base camp.

Two groups of those stranded in the valley had coordinated with the travel agency to walk to the Dhaulagiri base camp.

Out of them, 4 Belgium tourists, including two men and two women, and two Spanish male tourists had reached there through the travel agency while the other two Spanish tourists had reached the base camp without any orientation.

According to the police, the tourists who reached the base camp without a guide or a travel agency were rescued with the coordination of the local administration, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the concerned embassy.
