KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has warned of revoking the membership of journalists who have been actively involved in political activities by filing their candidacies as representatives of various political parties.

FNJ General Secretary Roshan Puri in a statement on Sunday said that FNJ’s attention has been drawn towards some journalists announcing their representation in the general conventions of different parties.

The statement said, “Except for the members of the Federation who are in the committees formed to look after the publicity department of the political party or the press, the membership of those working in the executive role of the political party will be revoked as it cannot be valid according to the FNJ statute.”

Similarly, the FNJ statute 2060 BS (Fifth Amendment 2076) states that “office bearers and members of the central committee, state committee or branch committee of the FNJ shall not be allowed to work in any department or committee of any level of any political party or sister organization as long as they hold the post.”
