Democratic Socialist leader Mahato demands CJ Rana’s resignation

BIRGUNJ: Political party leaders, who earlier remained quiet on the Supreme Court (SC) stalemate, have gradually started making their views public.

Democratic Socialist Party leader Rajendra Mahato on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

Speaking at a press conference in Birgunj, he said that Chief Justice Rana, who has been alleged of judicial misconduct, should resign immediately.

Accusing Rana of “settings” while making decisions, Mahato said that Rana should not remain in office as the Nepal Bar and other SC judges have been demanding his resignation.

While the Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court judges are in agitation demanding Rana’s resignation, the ruling and opposition parties have remained silent.
