Dialogue with CJ Rana, no way: Nepal Bar

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association has rebuffed Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana’s call for dialogue.

“Don’t ever imagine for dialogue. There will be no talks with you,” said Chandeswar Shrestha, President of Nepal Bar Association.

CJ Rana had on Monday urged the agitating lawyers of the Nepal Bar to sit for a dialogue to end the current stalemate in the judiciary.

“We will not sit for talks with you. We are adamant to our demands of your resignation,” Shrestha said adding that they would rather hold talks with the stakeholders on the implementation of the report of Justice Hari Krishna Karki.

“CJ Rana’s resignation is our bottom line,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the SC Bar Association Purna Man Shakya said, “Dialogue with CJ Rana is not possible at the moment.”

As part of the ongoing protests against Chief Justice Rana, agitating lawyers have continued their protest organizing a sit-in in front of the Supreme Court (SC) today as well.

Nepal Bar Association has launched a nationwide demonstration against Rana from Sunday.

The agitating lawyers, who have been demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana, protested in 90 bar units across the country on Monday.
