ICC World Cup final: New Zealand and Australia locking horns for title today

KATHMANDU: New Zealand is taking on Australia for the title of the ICC World Cup cricket tournament today.

The final between the two giants is being held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 7:45 pm.

New Zealand has reached the final for the first time while this is the second time for Australia. Australia had lost to England by seven wickets in the World Cup cricket tournament held in 2010.

Australia had entered the semi-finals from Group 1 of the Super 12 by becoming the first runner up. Australia had lost only to England and won four matches.

Similarly, New Zealand had entered the semi-finals by becoming the first runner up from Group 2. It had defeated India, Scotland, Namibia and Afghanistan and lost to Pakistan. It reached the final by defeating England, the winner of the Group 1.

Out of 14 Twenty20 matches, Australia has won nine and New Zealand has won five games.
