Province 1 CM Rai to take a vote of confidence on Nov 16



BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province 1, Rajendra Rai is preparing to take a vote of confidence from the state assembly meeting on November 16.

Appointed as the Chief Minister on November 2, he is all set to take a vote of confidence on November 16.

The state assembly meeting of Province 1 has been called for noon on November 16.

Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari had earlier adjourned the meeting till November 9.

Chief Minister Rai had earlier said that he would take a vote of confidence on the same date, i.e. on November 9.

However, after the meeting of the state assembly was postponed till December 16, CM Rai decided to take the vote of confidence on the same day.

There is a provision of registering a motion of confidence in the Provincial Assembly Secretariat two days before the vote of confidence.

Chief Minister Rai said that he is making preparations to take a vote of confidence by registering the proposal.

At present, there are 50 members of the pro-government five-party alliance in the 92-member state assembly.

The main opposition CPN-UML has 40 MPs and RPP has one.

Chief Minister Rai has appointed ministers from the ruling coalition – 2 from the Nepali Congress, one each from the Maoist Center and Janata Samajwadi Party, and one Minister of State from the Federal Democratic National Forum.

Chief Minister Rai has said that he would expand the cabinet after taking a vote of confidence.
