British mountaineer dies in Khumbu region

KATHMANDU: A British mountaineer has died while climbing down Mera Peak in the Khumbu region in Solukhumbu district.

According to District Police Office, Solukhumbu, 39-year-old Fayan Alex Gerrard Kristian died after he fell off a high camp.

Critically injured Kristian died while being airlifted in a helicopter to Lukla for treatment on Friday, said Police Inspector Rishi Raj Dhakal.

Kristian along with his team had reached Mera Peak on October 10 through the Himalaya State Company Ltd., Kathmandu.

His body has been kept in Lukla itself due to bad weather.
