MCC will not be endorsed sans national consensus: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” dismissed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s claim that a letter has been sent to the United States saying that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) would be endorsed.

“PM Deuba statement has been misinterpreted,” Dahal said on Friday.

He clarified that he and Prime Minister Deuba had not sent a letter saying that the MCC would be passed.

“The letter has clearly mentioned that it would be taken forward on the basis of national consensus,” Prachanda said.

It should be recalled that PM Deuba had on Thursday told the media that he and Prachanda had sent a letter to the United States assuring the latter of endorsing the MCC.

He also urged people not to get confused about PM Deuba’s remarks as it was not possible to pass the bill without discussing it with all the parties and without reaching a national consensus.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda further stated that the MCC would not be endorsed without forging a national consensus.
