KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said the ‘stone quarry business’ taking place along the Chandragiri-Chitlang section of Ganeshman Singh Highway would be immediately stopped.

Minister Sharma said he had heard that stone supplies were taking place from the section and if true, such act would be instantly suspended and road construction would be resumed.

Speaking at a program in Chandragiri on Friday, he vowed to do his best officially for the development of Chandragiri as well.

He also assured of initiation for the construction of bus park and community hospital in Chandragiri.

“I am also committed to materializing the dream of Sankhadhar Sakhwa who had freed the people from the debt and commenced the era of Nepal Sambat.”

The campaign that Sakhwa had started 1142 years ago is yet to be completed. People are yet to be liberated from the vicious cycle of poverty and to support them to be self-sufficient, according to the Finance Minister.

It may be noted that the then Krishna Prasad Bhattarai-led government had announced Sankhadhar Sakhwa as the national luminary and the Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’-led government had recognised the Nepal Sambat as the national calendar.
