Shahi sworn in as Chief Minister of Karnali Province

SURKHET: Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnali state.

Shai had staled a claim for the post to Karnali Chief Govinda Prasad Kaluni on Tuesday with the signatures of 12 MPs from the Maoist Center, six from the NC, and three from the Unified Socialist Party.

The State Chief administered the oath of office and secrecy Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi had resigned from his post.

After accepting the resignation, Chief Minister Kaluni had called on the members of the state assembly to form a new government by 7:30 pm on Tuesday.

Shahi will lead the state government for the remaining 16 months.
