State’s key organs should uphold dignity: Maoist Chair Prachanda



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the state’s key organs–executive, judiciary and legislature—should uphold their independence and integrity.

Talking to journalists in Chitwan Tuesday, he said that all should remain alert not to dampen the independence and dignity of the judiciary.

Chairman Prachanda’s comments come at a time when the recent moves of the Chief Justice were criticized from the legal fraternity. He also said that the political parties of the ruling alliance would reach to a conclusion within fews days by holding a consultation regarding the issue. Prachanda also said that no discussions were held to impeach the Chief Justice.

On a different note, the Maoist Center chair called upon the party cadres to make commitments for making the party stronger. “The situation is serious at present. We need to safeguard the achievements through struggles,” he added.

Likewise, Prachanda said that he would contest the upcoming poll from Chitwan district. “I won’t leave Chitwan. The upcoming parliamentary election could be the last one for my candidacy,” Prachanda announced.
