KATHMANDU: The government has formed a task force to study the damage caused to agricultural produce due to floods and landslides caused by recent unseasonal rains.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday formed a task force under Home Ministry Secretary Teknarayan Pandey to study the damage and gave three days to submit a report. The task force comprises of secretaries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Federal Affairs and the National Planning Commission.

Similarly, the cabinet decided to appoint Yubaraj Adhikari as the Executive Chairman of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). Accepting the resignation of the outgoing NAC Chairman Sushil Ghimire, the government took the decision to appoint Adhikari in Ghimire’s place, said government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

Likewise, the cabinet appointed Rabindra Ghimire as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nepal Reinsurance Company and Madan Pokhrel as member.

Similarly, it has been decided to increase the ration rate of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force by 15 percent.

The meeting also decided to approve the cash transfer procedure for the extremely poor families affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Spokesperson Karki said. He added vacant positions of Ambassadors to various countries would be filled soon.
