Nepal Bar Association gives 15-day ultimatum to CJ Rana for judicial reform

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association has given Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana 15 days to express his commitment to judicial reform.

A meeting of the Nepal Bar held Friday gave 15 days to the Supreme Court to decide on the implementation of the recommendations of the committee headed by Justice Hari Krishna Karki.

A statement issued by Nepal Bar General Secretary Lilamani Poudel said that the Nepal Bar will meet the Chief Justice on Sunday to discuss the issue and then make the rest of the decision. It added that if Supreme Court failed to express commitment to implement the report with the timeframe given, then Nepal Bar could not trust the judiciary’s leadership.
