PM Deuba assures of relief packages to survivors of floods, landslides

DHANDAGHI: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government would come up with a relief package for the survivors of landslides and floods.

Addressing a program after the inspection of area eroded by the Mahakali River at Bhimdutta municipality-12 in Kanchanpur district Friday, the Prime Minister said, “Data of losses caused by the off-seasonal incidences of flood will be gathered and the government will come up with a relief package for the survivors of landslides and floods.

“The floods and landslides have caused huge losses in the Far Western region,” he said, vowing to provide relief to the survivors despite limited resources.

Stating that the Council of Ministers had, a few days ago, decided to reach with the survivors with relief programs, he said that the flood had its implications in several parts of the country including in eastern Nepal.

The District Security Committee briefed the Prime Minister about the flood-caused losses and the post-disaster situation here.

The Prime Minister arrived here on Thursday to take stock of losses caused due to the disaster in Far Western Nepal.
