“Nepotism” as a word itself carries a vague meaning for some, it might be understood in one way and for some the other way, it all depends on how you take, and understand it.

Currently, we have been witnessing many incidents, events, where nepotism has become a “word of war” among people to attack each other in spilling out all the hatred, anger, grudge they hold for each other.

But then in a simpler way how do I want to explain about Nepotism or say have been taking and understanding nepotism so far is “Nepotism is Favoritism” it happens in the family, relatives between your close ones and in various fields like business, entertainment, and others in terms of giving someone a chance or say the opportunity to excel either in terms of their professional journey or personal.

There’s nothing bad in nepotism or say favoritism as everyone has the right to support and help the one they care, love, and have full support and faith but if that nepotism and favoritism thing is negatively affecting someone else’s life, then it’s time to come out from such practice.

For instance: You belong to a family who runs a family business, then automatically as being the son/daughter belonging to that family, the first right and the first opportunity that is given to work and handle the business or the company’s work under certain specified designation is certainly you.

Taking advantage and privilege of things using or say misusing to be more precise of your power, the position is not a right thing to do as it will affect someone more deserving to get depressed and feel that they aren’t worthy enough but then, in reality, the fact is nepotism/favoritism have become the hurdle for them, not their inabilities or capabilities.

However, at the same time, if an ordinary person coming from a normal background applies for the same position who is more capable of taking that responsibility rather than you, it’s your duty to give him/her opportunity instead of you taking the privilege of your family business and holding that certain position without being capable enough to fulfill the role and responsibilities.

So, the point is if you are better than someone you are always welcome to grab that opportunity you get through nepotism/favoritism but if you aren’t you, yourself should let others better than you grab that opportunity because ultimately on the benefit side it is obviously you, your family, your business as that qualified person will eventually help your business to grow and prosper in a better way than you can do and at the same time he/she too will get the opportunity to excel in his/her career because you saw that spark in them, gave the opportunity and platform to work coming out from the nepotism/favoritism thing.

So, it’s an appeal to all let’s try to play and act fairly as such culture won’t help any one of us in sustaining a long term stable life so achieve things at your abilities, skills and hard work rather than being dependent on someone else like a puppet.

Sometimes, as an individual, we all get frustrated when we compete for something and that eventually lead us in having disappointment for not having any kind of internal support or say not falling into the category of nepotism or favoritism.

I am not saying it’s a bad culture but if it is affecting some loyal, hardworking deserving souls out there then it surely is and we all are aware of the fact that no matter how much we speak loud and say long speech about loyalty, transparency, this or that but surely and certainly there is the nepotism/favoritism thing in almost every field be it in competing for a job or getting an admission to a big school/university.

Moreover, if this culture can be revamped in a newer way then it would be fair enough to those who actually and truly deserve the place where they should be.

So, it’s an appeal to all let’s try to play and act fairly as such culture won’t help any one of us in sustaining a long term stable life so achieve things at your abilities, skills and hard work rather than being dependent on someone else like a puppet.
