Porter dies of altitude sickness while returning from Mera Peak



KATHMANDU: A porter accompanying tourists to Mera Peak area has died of altitude sickness on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Jeevan Kulung, 25, of Chachalung in Mahakulung Rural Municipality-5, Solukhumbu. According to police, he was on his way back from Mera Peak when he died.

District Police Office, Solukhumbu, Police Inspector Omprakash Yadav said it was yet to be ascertained the company that employed Kulung as a tourist porter. More details are yet to arrive as the incident site is at three days’ distance.
