Nepali football team returning home today



KATHMANDU: Nepali football team is returning home today.

Nepal which had to satisfy with the first runner-up is arriving at 9:15 am today, informed All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

Nepal finished second in the SAFF Championship after a 3-0 defeat inflicted by India in the final held in Male, the headquarters of Maldives on Saturday.

Nepal had reached the final for the first time in the SAFF Championship participated by India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Nepal had defeated Maldives by 1-0 and Sri Lanka 3-2 and lost to India 0-1 in the league stage. Nepal, which reached the final after it drew with Bangladesh, lost to India 0-3 in the final.

Despite result, it still is a remarkable achievement for Nepali football when it reached the final for the first time in its history. Nepal had never reached the final before.
