9 die in Kerala rains



NEW DELHI: At least nine people died and over a dozen are missing in Kerala, where torrential rains triggered flash floods and landslides in many parts of the states, India Today has reported.

In the north, isolated showers were reported in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region on Sunday, it said.

Meanwhile, the weatherman has issued red and orange alerts for parts of Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab amid forecasts of heavy rain, according to India Today.

In one of the heaviest downpours in recent years, nine people have died and dozens are feared missing as landslides occurred in south and central Kerala on Saturday.

The deaths were reported from Thodupuzha and Kokkayar in Idukki, and Koottikkal in the Kottayam district.
