Australia to lift int’l travel ban from next month

SYDNEY: The Australian government has decided to reopen its international border from November, giving long-awaited freedoms to vaccinated citizens and their relatives.

Since March 2020, Australia has imposed strictest border rules, even banning its own people from leaving the country.
“It’s time to give Australians their lives back,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said.

States with vaccination rates above 80% will be given the right to travel overseas, according to decision.

However, travel will not immediately be open to foreigners, but the government said it was working “towards welcoming tourists back to our shores”. (With inputs from BBC)
