UML’s first legislative general convention begins

Six-member presidium including Chairman Oli to chair convention



KATHMANDU: The first legislative general convention of the CPN-UML has started on Friday. Chairman KP Oli inaugurated the convention at Godavari in Lalitpur at 1.25 pm.

Chairman Oli inaugurated the convention by lighting a lamp and switching on a mobile phone. After switching on the mobile, the convention was inaugurated on the screen.

This General Convention will pass legislative amendments, political reports and organizational reports.

UML has stated that more than 5,000 delegates from all over the country are participating in the convention which is being held for the first time after the UML split on August 25. Unlike on other occasions, the inauguration ceremony was not hosted by the party secretary and publicity department Chief Yogash Bhattarai rather it is being anchored by Secretary Pradip Gyawali.

A six-member presidium, including Chairman Oli, Vice-Chairmen Ashtalakshmi Shakya and Yuvraj Gyawali, Standing Committee members Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, Subash Nembang, Satyanarayan Mandal and Chhabilal Bishwokarma has been formed to chair the convention.
