Province 1 chief Adhikari offers greetings on Jitiya festival



MORANG: Chief of Province 1 Somnath Adhikari ‘Pyasi’ has today offered best wishes on the occasion of Jitiya festival.

Jitiya is one of the biggest festivals celebrated by married women from Tharu community.

In general, it falls on the seventh, eighth and ninth day of the waning moon in the Nepali month of Ashwin.

People from other communities living in harmony with Tharu community also observe the festival.

During the three-day-long festival, devotees fast for the prosperity, good health and longevity of their families and for the blessing of sons.

The province chief Adhikari in a message of greetings offered the hope that Nepali sisters and brothers come together to strengthen fraternity and tolerance among all communities and for the development and conservation of Nepali original culture and tradition while urging stakeholders to conserve the popularity of the festival.
