CPN-UML CC meeting to continue today as well

Chairman Oli furnishing reply to central members’ concerns

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN-UML, which has been going on for two days, will continue today as well.

Party Chairman KP Oli is scheduled to furnish answers to the questions put forth by the party’s central members on Friday and Saturday.

The meeting held at the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation at Chasal in Lalitpur on Friday and Saturday discussed various proposals.

The CC meeting that started Friday had formed 10 groups to discuss three proposals.

After the group discussion, the team leaders announced the findings at the meeting.

Chief of the Publicity Department Yogesh Bhattarai informed that the meeting has been extended as the task of submitting group suggestions was not completed on Saturday.

The central committee meeting discussed the political report submitted by Chairman Oli, the organizational proposal submitted by General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel, and the legislative amendment proposal submitted by Deputy General-Secretary Bishnu Poudel.

He also said that UML has suggested forming a strong communist party by forging unity among all communist forces.

The party has also discussed making the UML party inclusive and of national character.

Likewise, the central members have suggested that a leader should not get executive posts for more than two terms.

According to a central member, among other issues, the question of managing leaders such as Ishwor Pokharel, Subash Nemwang, Bhim Rawal, Ashtalaxmi Shakya, Yuvraj Gyawali and Ram Bahadur Thapa was also raised during Saturday’s discussion.

Being “high profile” leaders, they will not agree to hold positions below the general secretary, the central members suggested.
