NC leaders duo Shekhar Koirala and Gagan Thapa furious at Deuba

Say 'Postponement of General Convention not acceptable'

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders Shekhar Koirala and Gagan Thapa have expressed outrage over the party leadership alleging that it is trying to postpone the upcoming 14th General Convention.

NC leaders Koirala and Thapa expressed their indignation through social media accusing the leadership of holding various discussions intended for postponement.

Dr. Koirala sought clarification for changing the scheduled convention dates for district level and municipal levels. “What is the reason for holding the convention first in the Himalayan district and later in the rest of the districts when the active membership dispute has been resolved there?” he asked in the social media on Friday.

Similarly, Dr. Koirala expressed his concern over the news that the NC office bearers’ meeting discussed on the issue of changing date of general convention.

“Where are the NC office-bearers trying to take the party? Does it mean that they are plotting to postpone the convention indefinitely?” he asked ahead, “Wasn’t the irregularities in the membership distribution enough? How long will the leadership continue the mess?”

Similarly, leader Thapa has questioned the leadership for not following the rules and regulations, and not taking responsibility for the situation. “Can the General Convention date be shifted so easily? Shouldn’t the political leadership abide by rules and regulations?” he wrote on his face-book post Friday, “How long is this messy leadership going to move ahead?”

He has urged the leadership to change the mentality that it can just give orders and the cadres are obliged to abide by it.
