10:02 am most auspicious time to receive Dashain tika

KATHMANDU: Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti (Calendar Determination Committee) has informed that 10:02 am on October 15 is the most auspicious time to receive Dashain tika this year.

Ghatasthapana, the first day of the 15-day Dashain, that is scheduled for October 7, should begin before 11:46, said the Samiti Chairperson Prof Shree Krishna Adhikari. The biggest festival is celebrated by Hindu people from across the globe in particular.

On the main day, Dashami, people receive tika, jamara and blessings from their elders. Tika is the mixture of rice grains, curd and red vermillion powder formed into a paste and put on the forehead as a blessing of the goddess, Durga.

Likewise, Jamara are the newly-germinated barley and maize shoots that are worn behind the ears as auspicious items during the festival.
