President authenticates Appropriation Bill (Budget)

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has authenticated the Appropriation Bill (Budget) 2021 Thursday.

According to the President’s Office, the bill was certified by President Bhandari Thursday after it was passed by both the Houses of Parliament.

With this, the government can now spend state funds and the budget holiday ended. The government had been without a budget and went into budget holiday after the budget ordinance could not be passed by September 15, as required.

The Deuba government had brought a replacement bill to replace the budget brought by the then Oli government through an ordinance. After the replacement bill took time to be passed, the government was without budget.

Although the Approtiation (budget) Bill has been ratified, two more bills related to the budget were passed by the House of Representatives only on Thursday. Now the National Assembly is likely to pass both the bills on Friday.
