Tharu community to observe Constitution Day as a black day

DHANGADHI: While the Constitution Day is being celebrated across the country with great zeal, the Tharu community in Kailali is going to burn the constitution and observe the day as a black day.

Chairman of the Tharu Welfare Assembly, Kailali, Madhav Tharu said on Sunday that his group would observe the day as the black day would be burning Article 274 and Schedule 4 of the Constitution as their rights were not included in the Constitution.

“We have been celebrating Constitution Day as a black day since the past,” he said, adding,”It will be continued this time as well. Our concerns are not addressed by this document.”

The Tharu community is in agitation demanding ‘Tharuhat Tharuwan Autonomous State, and the release of those convicted in the Tikapur incident’.

According to Madhav, the Tharu community is planning to celebrate Black Day in Joshipur, Kailali today. The protest program will be jointly organized by Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha Kailali, Tharuhat Tharuwan Rashtriya Morcha and Tharu Bidyarthi Samaj.
