HoR meeting taking place at 1 pm today

UML likely to disrupt



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is taking place at 1 pm today.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma will table a proposal as to the Appropriation Bill, 2078 BS for endorsement.

Similarly, there is an agenda item to present a condolence motion on the demise of Rukma Shamsher Rana, a nominated member of the National Assembly in 2048 BS, according to the Parliament Secretariat.

Even though Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota convened an all-party meeting on Monday, the CPN-UML boycotted the meeting.

The main opposition UML has been  questioning the role of Speaker Sapkota accusing latter of splitting the party. The CPN-UML has been obstructing the parliament meetings.

The lawmakers of the main opposition party on Sunday gheraoed the rostrum shouting slogans against Speaker Agni Sapkota.

Earlier, UML had obstructed the House on Wednesday and Friday, as well.

UML has been protesting against the Speaker for allegedly not taking action against the 14 defecting UML lawmakers now in Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist despite the party’s request to do so.
