Supplementary petition seeking revocation of SC interim order filed on Monday

KATHMANDU: A supplementary petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) Monday seeking revocation of an interim order issued against the Constitutional Bench by single bench of Justice Hari Phuyal in the case related to decision of Constitutional Council.

Justice Phuyal’s order in the case not only the made participation of Chief Justice mandatory in the Constitutional Bench but also forbade the former justice from expressing their opinion via speech, articles or/and interviews.

Advocate Om Prakash Aryal filed the supplementary petition Monday.

The hearing against the decisions of the Constitutional Council regarding appointments to constitutional bodies filed by Advocate Aryal has been stayed due to Justice Phuyal’s interim order.

The then Oli government had brought ordinance related to the Constitutional Council and recommended appointments of officials in various constitutional bodies. As per the recommendation based on that ordinance, 52 office bearers were appointed.
