NC general convention schedule revised

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has amended its schedule for its much-awaited 14th general convention.

The amendment was made after the ward and municipality level convention slated for September 3 could not take place in all districts on time and as per the schedule.

According to the NC’s central election committee, ward-level conventions had been conducted in 57 of the 77 districts where the names of the active members were already published. The name list of the active members in the remaining 20 districts was yet to be sent to the committee, said committee coordinator Mahadev Prasad Yadav.

The ward and town level convention for those remaining 20 districts will be held on September 21.

Likewise, the rural municipality and municipality level convention will be organized on September 25. Similarly, provincial assembly-level regional convention is scheduled for September 28. District convention having only one House of Representative’s constituency will be held on October 4 while district convention having more than one House of Representative’s constituency will see convention to be held the same day.

However, dates for the provincial level convention remain intact-October 27 to 29. The national convention of the ruling party having over 850,000 active members (57 districts) will be held from November 25-29 later this year.
