Govt to construct large model agricultural production center in each province

KATHMANDU: The government has announced to construct one large model agricultural production center in each province.

Through the Financial Ordinance Replacement Bill tabled in the Parliament on Friday, Finance Minister Sharma announced that the modern model agricultural center will be set up under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project so that agricultural materials, use of technology and knowledge, training, transportation and market management can be done from one place.

“A Large Model Agricultural Center will be set up in each province to accelerate agricultural production by making good use of the land, climate and market available for agricultural production to motivate those involved in the agricultural sector,” the bill said.

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that a mechanism  comprising  the representatives from the government, private sector, cooperatives and agricultural cooperation groups would be set up to operate such a large scale agricultural production center to be set up in each province.

Agriculture Secretary Dr. Krishna Prasad Acharya said that the program was in line with the policy of practicing good agriculture in every province for model agricultural work.

He also said that the new program would not affect the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project and its other programs.
