Dr Govinda KC warns of agitation if his five-point agreement is not met

KATHMANDU: Medical education reform campaigner Dr. Govinda KC has warned of agitation provided the government fails to enforce the five-point agreement made before.

Issuing a press release on Monday, Dr. KC drew the attention of the government to implement the five-point agreement reached with him immediately.

He warned of a hunger strike at any time if his warning is still ignored. He has given the government three weeks deadline for the implementation of the agreement.

Dr. KC has drawn the government’s attention towards medics’ protest in the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and reminded the government about the agreement made in this regard.

His five points demand include addressing various problems in the field of health and medical education and the measures promised to be taken for the same.

Dr. KC demanded that the officials of Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences should be sacked, and those who threatened the officials of the Medical Education Commission should be punished.

He also urged the government to take initiation to open government medical colleges in Ilam or Panchthar, Udaypur and Dadeldhura or Doti.

Dr. KC also pointed out that the provision of 75 percent scholarship in the public educational institutions has not been enforced by many institutions and demanded the implementation of the provisions made in the Medical Education Act.
