Unified Socialists turns bigger than UML in Sudur Paschim Province

DHANGADHI: Three more lawmakers have joined newly formed CPN-Unified Socialist party making the party stronger than CPN-UML in Sudur Paschim Province.

According to sources, Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, Prakash Rawal and Tara Lama Tamang reached the province election office and identified themselves in favor of the Unified Socialist.

With this the party has got 13 province lawmakers to become bigger than the UML. There are 12 lawmakers in UML.

In the 53-member province assembly, there were 25 MPs including the speaker in the UML.

The Election Commission has given the September 7 deadline for the people’s representative of the UML and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) if they want to change the party and join the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led Unified Socialist and Mahantha Thakur led Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) respectively.

Currently, the Sudur Paschim Province assembly has 13 lawmakers from the CPN-Maoist Center, 12 from Nepali Congress (NC), and two from JSP.

There is one independent lawmaker in the province. Maoist Center lawmaker Jhapad Bohora has been suspended by the party after he defected it and joined UML.
