NC’s Poudel faction renews commitment to put forward common candidate

KATHMANDU: The Ram Chandra Poudel faction of the Nepali Congress (NC), who belong to the non-establishment faction, has again expressed commitment to finalize a common candidate for party president in the upcoming 14th general convention.

At a press conference held in NC central office in Sanepa Thursday, leaders said they would make public the consensus candidate for the presidency.

Senior leader Poudel, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, former General Minister Prakash Man Singh and Central Member Dr. Shekhar Koirala are aspirants for presidency from Poudel faction. Though they frequently held discussion, they have not been able to finalize a common candidate. None of the aspirants spoke in the press meet today.

Senior leader Poudel said discussions were underway among them regarding distribution of responsibility. “We will move forward together to save the party,  We will propose a common candidate for Presidency,” said Poudel. He said that they would finalize a candidate soon.
