UML files writ petition against Speaker and EC



KATHMANDU: Main opposition CPN-UML has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and the Election Commission Wednesday.

UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said that the party has filed three writ petitions have at the apex court.

The UML has demanded in the writ petition that the party should send a letter to the Parliament Secretariat to take action against 14 lawmakers.

Likewise, in the second writ petition, the party has demanded revocation of the registration of the CPN-Unified Socialist party at the EC claiming that the election body verified the names of 55 lawmakers.

The UML party, in its writ, has mentioned that the Unified Party should have only 39 lawmakers.

In the writ petition, the UML has claimed that the Election Commission registered the CPN-Unified Socialist by violating the legal process.
