Action against 14 UML lawmakers not necessary: Parliament Secretariat

KATHMANDU: Responding to CPN-UML’s letter to take action against 14 defecting lawmakers, including leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, the Parliament Secretariat has said that there is no need to take action against them anymore.

According to the Secretariat sources, the secretariat concluded that no action is needed against the defecting lawmakers as the Secretariat received the information that they have already been recognized as the lawmakers of another party.

UML had written a letter to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota on August 17 seeking the dismissal of 14 lawmakers who ‘disobeyed’ the party whip.

Earlier, UML had put pressure on the speaker seeking prompt action against the defecting lawmakers.

Had Speaker taken action against them earlier, the lawmakers loyal to former UML leader Nepal could have lost the post which would have been a hitch in the attempt to form a new party.
