UML CC meeting decides to erase records of those leaving party



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to remove the records of leaders, including Madhav Kumar Nepal, from the party for quitting the party and forming a new party.

UML Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali said the Central Committee meeting held at Tulsilal Memorial Foundation in Chysal, Lalitpur, Thursday, decided to erase the records of all of those quitting the party, and notify the Election Commission about the same.

“It has been decided to remove the names of those who have left the party and registered a new party from the party records and inform the Election Commission,” he said. “We have kept the door open to anyone who wants to return to the UML after realizing their mistake.”

The UML also stated it would wage a legal battle against the controversial decision made by the Election Commission (EC) in course of verification of members of leader Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist party.

Gyawali said that the party decided to move the court as the EC verified those who faced party action and those who were absent.

He also said the party protested the ordinance on political parties that provisions for chiefs of local levels to leave the party. He termed the ordinance unconstitutional.

Today’s meeting also decided to implement the 10-point unity proposal soon. Secretary General Ishwor Pokharel, leaders Bishnu Poudel, Gokarna Bista and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi have been given the responsibility to facilitate the implementation of 10-point deal.
