CPN Unified Socialist Chair Nepal to engage in active politics for five more years after upcoming election

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that he planned to remain in active politics for five more years after the upcoming election. He formally split from the CPN-UML Wednesday and registered form the CPN-Unified Socialist Party.

At the press conference held after his party got legal recognition on Thursday, Chair Nepal said he did not want to be involved in politics for the rest of his old age. “I will be in active politics for five years after the next election though some leaders are requesting me not to say so,” he said.

Chairman Nepal said he was in favor of handing over the leadership to the younger generation after KP Oli retired when he had been in the CPN-UML. “I told the younger generation that they should take over the party by saying goodbye to Oli. If they do that, I will continue to support them,” he said.
